gs-r wheel bearings
hey guys...i recently bought myself some new toyo proxe 4s for my 96 gsr...before than i noticed my car was really shaky in the front so i assumed it was either my tires or alignment...so then of course i bought my proxe 4s but the problem didnt go away...then the only thought i had left was alignment...i had a pair of skunk 2 cambers that i needed to put in anyways so i took it to my friends shop to put in and i found out that my wheel bearings were bad...i'm still broke but saving some money to get it fixed...one of the guys that works there said i might have to replace the whole hub for the front two...so my question is, should i just replace the wheel bearings or should i just go ahead and replace the whole hub?
How did he detemine your wheel bearings were bad? Don't replace the entire hub unless you get everything for cheaper than replacing the bearings alone.
I tried to look this bearing up on the Timken site but there was not a picture showing whether it is the whole hub/bearing assembly or just a bearing. Either way the hub has to pressed off of the steering knuckle, I would recommend taking it into a shop to have this done. The part was like $50 at autozone. Found a picture from BCA bearings and it looks as if the bearing is pressed into the hub assembly as well. Part number is 510030 from either Timken or BCA.

my wheel bearings were recently bad and i just had them replaced not soo long ago. i was told that if the wheel bearings are bad, then most likely the hubs are going to be bad as well. i ended up replacing my hub assembly and bearings. now the shaking is gone. this was what i was told, it doesn't mean you have to believe me. lol
