running too rich with my k20

hello, I recently just got my k20a dyno'ed ... according to the dynojet, I'm running extremely rich after vtec ... it just drops off like a roller coaster after 6000 rpms. it even dips into the 11's on the a/f graph ...
I suspect part of this may be because I am running a 60/40 mix of 100/91 octane ... but I'm not sure. I run 60/40 because I'm rather paranoid about knocking with california's shitty 91 octane.
so ... here's my question. If I ran a lower mix, say 30/70 of 100/91, would that lean it out?
I KNOW I need a tune badly, but I'm currently broke ... kpro + extra k20a2 ecu + tune = ~$1700 ... and I definitely don't have that right now.

Why would you need a second ecu? Just have kpro installed on your current ecu and be done with it.
What sounds better to you $1,700 for kpro and tune or 6500 for a new k20a set up because you blew the last one up for being a cheap ***.....
Do the math and choose the right path.

explain how I am being a cheapass. I'd like to hear it.
I'm buying another ecu so I don't have to mod my type r ecu in case I ever need to sell it. I don't believe you can run hondata on a type r ecu either.
thanks for the un-informative, belligerent reply. that was not needed. nor did you answer my question.

A little sensitive arent we.
You spend the cash on a k20 set up then complain about the tunning being to much. Hell I think common sense could help you answer your own questions rather then come on here and cry.
As for the thumbsdown.. ouch.. it hurts soo much.. Honestly bro, who cares. Tune your car and be done with it. No more crying. If you think about it, spending cash on constantly adding 100 octane to 91, plus the hassle of doing this over and over would make the 1700 dollars well worth it in the future.
If not just keep adding 100/91 and stop asking if you should spend the cash and tune..
oh wait, this is for you too..

I never said I'm never going to get kpro, etc. I said that I do not have the money at the moment to do it.
check your ego at the door, please. thanks.
if you're not going to answer my question, I don't need you to post off topic bs with your condescending attitude. it takes less effort to click out of the thread than to write up a bullshit post.

Haha, in this comment you should snap your fingers and shake your head. hahha
Honestly save your cash and get kpro, anything else is just a waste of money.

Yeah it does take less effort but what is the fun in that.
If you look in your thread I'm the only one answering you, so what does that tell you.

I don't think there is too much to check ... I don't have any check engine lights so I'm sure my o2 sensors are working fine. I've driven nearly 5000 miles with the swap already ... so yeah ... not the o2 sensors.
I do have an exhaust leak .. but I don't see how that would contribute so greatly to my rich issue.

o2 sensors can go bad without throwing a CEL. also, is it an exhaust leak before or after your o2 sensor?

where did you get your exhaust work done? They should warranty their work. Anyways, fix it and see what happens.
BTW, to help you we need to know your mods. Usually O2 sensors dont give CEL's until they completely fail. If its N/A it should run fine, your ECU should retard timing the split second it sees any knocking, you'll just be making less power.
Are you constantly running 91/100?? Thats kinda expensive. Thats $6.05 a gallon (here in west covina) for 100 X 7= $42.35 + $3.00 for 91 X 5 = $15
So youre paying roughly $57.35 or so for each fill up.

that would cause your o2 sensor to read differently.

actually I am running the oem dc5-r header, cat and full exhaust. the axleback was modified to fit, but I don't think that's really an issue. I think the header leak is coming from an old metal gasket that goes between the header and block ... so yeah.
the only mods I have are Injen CAI from a type S, nextgear intake mani gasket, t/b coolant bypass, and quaife lsd. everything else is bone stock.
$57 for a fillup is pretty accurate ...

i dont understand why you need octane levels that are soo high.
1. your timings arnt advanced(or im not aware of)
2. you're still running on 11:1 compression
3. an exhaust leak between the block and header can change a/f ratio's. you might be letting more air in or exhaust gasses out so your o2 sensor wont read what it's supposed to be reading.
4. get the car tuned.

1. I believe the timing is advanced with the k20a ecu. but I could be wrong.
2. compression is 11.5:1
my friend hookup up his kpro to his friend's k20a swapped-rsx and it read a ridiculous amount of knocking with 91 octane. so, there's my reasoning for using high octane.
also, the dc5r in japan has a recommended fuel rating of 98 ron ... which I believe is ~95 us octane.
