Guys,

The exhaust mid pipe is having a crack with slight rust and leaking with noice.
I got the pipes as well as muffler with midas 3 years ago. I took to midas and they said the exhaust pipe is warranty for 1 year and muffler for life.

They gave me an estimate for $460 which i think is ridiculous.

How big is it a deal to fix this thing ?

will welding work on the pipe ? if so where can i get it welded ? are there any portable welding tools available for rental may be
any experiences are appreciated.

I would have laughed right in their face when they said $460. All you need is a fresh piece of pipe welded in place of the old one.

 

Jeez, are you kidding me? You sure they didn't mean $46?

Simply having them weld on a short replacement pipe in place of the leak should be like $20 including the pipe.
