Default How to bleed brake fluid on '99 Civic EX Sedan with ABS?

I am looking for the correct procedure for bleeding the brakes on a '99 Civic EX 5-speed, sedan, with ABS. I have done the clutch no problem, MUCH better feel now!

The Haynes repair manual for car does not have a particular sequence of what wheel is done first and which is done next. I know on a NON-ABS car that you bleed the wheel farthest from master cyl. (Pass. Rear) to closest (Drivers Front). On most ABS cars, it goes in an X pattern. Can I use the petal to push the fluid through the lines or will the ABS pump have to be on? Thanks

I want to do this while doing a tire rotation, so I will jack-up the car pulls the wheels off each corner at a time and bleed it there with my girl pushing the petal for me.

You need a tool that snap on sells for the ABS system. Gravity bleed doesnt help much.

Well that $^$$ sucks! How much is the tool? Does it put compressed air in the system from the brake fluid res. or does it suck it out of the bleeder nipple?

Yes you need a special tool but you do not have to buy it from snap on. I'm a tech and I don't buy anything from snap on, it is all way overpriced.

OK, so JDM-97CX where can I get this tool on the cheap. How do I use it in what order on a ABS equiped '99 EX sedan?

Waht does it do, turn on the ABS pump, presurize the system, or suck out the old fluid?

It pressurizes the abs hydraulics so that they can be bled. I honestly wouldn't know where to get one for honda I work for lincoln but I can ask around and I will let you know.

I was under the impression that snap-on was the only one who made that tool for honda's. Who else makes them? I never buy from snap-on unless if i think there the only one that makes it.

I think the tool is under 100 bucks. But at the same time you could have Honda do it for 100 bucks as well.

I'm actually not sure if about where to get the one for hondas, I have one for ford because that is where I work, I know mine was only like $70.

Honda might even do it cheaper than that depending on labor rate.

Thanks Luserkid, you can Post if you find anything. I am sure others also want to know.

So does it pressurize the brake fluid reservoir or does it activate the ABS pumps to build pressure to bleed the system?

Default My Honda ONLY indpendant shop said don't need tool??

Just spoke to the independant HONDA and Acura "ONLY" shop that I have taken the car too when I can't fix it. The owner of the shop said you can just depress the brake and loosen the bleed screw on a '99 Civic EX with ABS?? Said do P.R. wheel first D.F. last?

Anyone tried bleeding the brakes the old fashin way on a ABS equiped Civic?
