Well any rate you have to pull the tranny. It could be a number of things. Sounds like a loose input shaft. Or could be a loose or fuberd throwout or pilot bearing. Does it shift funny at all?

my money would be on the pilot, or throw-out, but like stated above it could be like 20 diff. things , take the tranny off , inspect all of the obvious then input shaft bearing.

I currently have the same situation...and when your your driving and gear down from say 4th to 2nd or 3rd to 2nd and slowly let it out...it sounds kinda weird as well. it's nothing too serious...if it's the same case as mine. It's my input shaft baring. Take it to a transmision shop and they should be able to tell you.

Input shaft bearing is my guess. My tranny makes the same noise (from what i have gathered.) When im stopped with the clutch in its fine, anytime i dont have my foot on the clutch it rattles.

I purchased the car like this and initially thought it was the throwout bearing. It needed a new clutch at the time, So I changed the clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing, and pressure plate. It still makes the same noise.

Im preparing for the worst (input shaft) and am looking for a new tranny. I hear it is easier to buy and install a new tranny rather than try and change the input shaft bearing

Same thing here. Changed the disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and the pilot bearing. Still makes the noise. Next thing for me is to replace the input shaft bearing. It was 23 bucks at the dealer.

My car also makes a rattling noise only noticable in first and second in low rpms.

Either pilot bearing or throwout bearing would be a good start.

My problem is exactly like yours and now im 90% confident that its the input shaft bearing? did u do it yourself or did a shop do it for you? and also how much did it cost you?

The part is like $25 but you have to drop the tranny and split the case. Then you have to remove the gears etc etc. The people who have done it say its not bad but I dunno. If you bring the tranny itself somewhere should be around $300 or so. Some like to buy a new tranny for the peice of mind.

The input shaft bearing is a lot more involved. I never rebuilt a tranny, so I have no clue about its price. I replaced the throwout bearing with the clutch/flywheel/pressure plate. I did the work myself, and only paid like $160 for all factory honda parts
