Default Quarter Panel Rust

Today I was walking out to my car and noticed a small rust spot on the passenger quarter panel. I was wondering if cutting it out was the only way to get rid of it, or is there an easier way?

I'm not a body man.

But, you can sand it down, get some filler, fill it, sand it, prime it, and paint it. It all depends on the amount of rust.

Welcome to the 3rd and 4th Gen two step. This is probably the most common body cosmetic complaint going. Right at the apex of the quarter panel, bumper cover and wheel well, correct?

To do it right, it's got to be taken down to bare metal, sealed and then either patched with metal or fiberglass/bondo. Then you can consider thinking about refinishing it.

The best way is to spotweld a sheet of metal over the area after it has been sanded down. That way, the rust will never come back. If you just sand it down and bondo or fiberglass over it, the rust will eventually come back. TRUST ME, I have learned the hard way
