What kind of Honda/Acura car uses tires that are 215/40-18?

Wow! That's too big even for the front of an NSX. Aren't you concerned over the fact that the larger diameter will make your car accelerate slower? A much better match for a fourth generation Prelude (which came with stock 205/55-15 tires) is 215/35-18, and there are LOTS more tires (and better tires) available in that size. For example, the Kumho Ecsta MX is $121 in 215/35-18, and offers MUCH MUCH better performance than the T/A KDW 2 for the same money.

Getting back to your original questions, the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 is an okay "budget performance tire", in the same category as the Yokohama ES100 and the Avon Tech M500. I don't normally recommend it because it's significantly more expensive than those other tires, with similar performance (or, offers lower performance than top-of-the-line tires that are similarly priced, like the Goodyear F1 GS-D3). But you have limited choices in the odd 215/40-18 size, and that's one of the few available.

In the States, the first two places to check are Tire Rack and Discount Tire, as well as onlinetires.com, which sells Toyo tires (and other brands). Since you're in Canada, it might also be worth checking places on your side of the border, which will cut down on shipping as well as import duties, so you might check out 1010tires and TireTrends, both of which are in BC (you can probably buy at either place in person and avoid shipping charges altogether), as well as Talon, at the other end of your country. Shop around, check out prices as well as shipping costs and sales taxes and import duties...

I just did a little web browsing and found decent prices from Vancouver-area dealers on two different tires in the proper 215/35-18 size for your Prelude that will give MUCH better performance than the KDW 2:

Toyo T1R 215/35-18 CDN184.99/tire (around USD156) from 1010tires.com in Richmond

Kumho Ecsta MX 215/35-18 CDN199.95/tire (around USD168) from TireTrends.com in Maple Ridge

I would choose the Toyo over the Kumho; it offers slightly better performance for slightly less money. (That's an awesome price, too!)

These prices are slightly higher than prices in the States (USD148 for the Toyo from onlinetires, USD121 for the Kumho from Tire Rack), but the savings would probably be wiped out by shipping charges. Any time you can get good prices from a local place and not pay for shipping, it's worth considering.

I assume you are not planning to use any of these tires on snow or in frigid cold. All of these tires are summer tires and won't do well in those conditions. If you're planning to use the tires in winter, then you should either get an all-season tire, or a separate set of winter tires.

I have these tires and absolutly loved them. I had no problem with these for my S in the rain or dry pavement. I will be buying another set when my old ones wear out.

Then modify the suspension to reduce the lowering. Oversized tires is a very bad way to raise the height of your car, because it hurts acceleration, hurts handling, and throws off the speedometer and odometer.

Doesn't sound very customer service oriented of them.

So have them ship you the tires...
