just bought an 88 integra and it is hitting 1500 rpms when idling in neutral and then dropping down to about 500...it continuously does this back and forth..but when i turn on the a/c it stops and idles at 1000...how do i fix this?

 

have you checked the Idle Air Control Valve or the Fast Idle Thermo Valve? those are usually the 2 most common things that attribute to that kind of revving. Another could be a vacuum leak somewhere.

 

well the ecu is flashing red..which is o2 sensor right...but the o2 sensor is fine...it also seems to be running rich when it revs back and forth

I used to own a 87 integra ls. It was in the family for 15 years. ince 1990.

I just sold it last month for $600 cahsh. and I keep in touch with the new owner.

Anyway, All the first gen itnegras rev over and over to warm them selves up.

However, I would think that yours is a problem.

The ecu flashing does not mean o2 sensor.

Count the flashes between pauses.

i jus had the same problem it was a vaccuum leak jus check all vaccumm hoses and make sure everthing goes somewhere and if u cant figure it out jus plug up the hoses...what i was told
