I have this oil leak here. my coolant needs refilled often and i'm eating up a quart of oil every 2 weeks or so.

 

do a compression check, maybe bad rings or head gasket

looks like the notorious leaky cam seal to me. That little rubber black thing

can you see anywhere the coolant might be leaking, how old is the coolant, and if you have to add to it often do you use the right mixture?

It couldnt be that because the oil is above the headgasket....it would have to be valve cover related

 

I agree. Check the valve cover gasket. they're notoriously known for leaking at the humps where the cam shaft is. Also, I had a similar leak and found out it was my vtec solenoid gasket that went bad. Would be best to clean up the oil and drive around and see where exactly it is leaking from.

There's also a dye you can add in your oil so you can see where the leak is coming from.

 

i got the same problem...cam seal. I got a replacement from http://www.robearracing.com. They have a billet one with 2 rings (oem is one) for 15 bucks, shipped. Oem runs 9+ shipping. GOod luck

If it was me id just pressure wash the **** out of it and then let it idle and watch. If its blowin a quart of oil a week, it probably leaks pretty good at idle.

 

it looks like the camshaft seal. I have jdm b16a siRII. should I buy the cam seal from a 95 Del Sol vtec or a 99 Civic SI?

 

Shouldnt matter, its a B series cam seal, i think any and all B series are covered

 

I have been watching this thread all week because of same situation but not so much leak and valve cover gasket is not the culprit. It seems to be the cam seals. My question is "Can I use hondabond on this?"

 

just run a bead of Hondabond or gasket sealent around the cam. and replace the VTEC solinoid gasket. The oil will stop leaking. I did mine a year ago and has not leaked since

Gasket sealant around the cam? You mean around the cam seal? Dont even mess with the vtec solenoid gasket, just do the valve cover gasket and the cam seal and it'll 99% for sure fix your problem

 

The only way i could get around the cam seal is to take out the vtec solenoid. Will there be any problems in taking it out? If none, give me the steps please. Thanks.

nononononno. Pull the valve cover and then the oil rails. Then pull the very front left cam cap when standing at the font of the car. The cam seal is under there.

 

AH...changed the cam seal...now car won't start and i'm late for work!! changed the spark plugs and still nothing. checking ground and plug wires. everything seems good. get a new plug wire??

 

did you unplug your distributor?
