Default tranny question

wat year itr tranny is the "best"
or are they all the same?
im planning on getting a 97 itr tranny with lsd for $1000
or should i save up for a different tranny? with that money.

Best is moot when you don't state your needs.

If you don't need an LSD, then you won't even need the ITR tranny in the first place.

Second important thing is the gear ratios. The 98 up spec JDM ITR uses a 4.78FD and I think it also has shorter gear ratios than the 97 spec one.

All USDM ITR trannies use the 4.4FD.

Last, and I think it should be #1, is condition of the tranny. A newer tranny may not always be in better condition, better check the synchros before you buy one.
