NHRA et racers getting messed over again!
Im not gonna bitch and complain too much but i was running et 1 this weekend and i got 1 pass yesterday. Some people got 2. The NHRA folks said we would get 3. Now i know we had a bunch of delays but you mean to tell me that i have to be prepared for elimenations with the data on my new tranny, clutch, and tires from one run? Man that sucks! They need to work out somethng better than that for the et racers. Anyone remember last year when the et class got cancelled and we had to maek it up months later? Why does this crap always happen at pomona?
I was stuck in the ET lanes yesterday for 3 hours.....
That sucked. I missed the DJ battles and watching all the fast *** cars. I only got 2 runs and I was there from 7am. Being in stagging lanes from 2:30pm till 5:30 pm made me miss the best of everything at the event. I am heading out today but I think I will not even bother with running but just enjoy the event. I am glad though that I got to run on the best track in SoCal. See you guys out there.

That sucks to hear. But you could blame the ET racer that oiled down the track and had the track closed for three hours but that would be to easy.
It is easy to blame the NHRA but you should be mad at the et guy who should have just pulled over to the side of the track and stopped but no he wanted to oil down the whole track on bolth sides just because he is a moron.
you should point the finger at the ET guy not the NHRA they did the best they could.

umm it wasnt just the et racers that got the shaft. pro classes and sport classes didnt get all there qualifying rounds do to track clean up. nothing nhra can do about that...
MAYBE YOU GUYS NEED TO STOP OILING THE TRACK DOWN, NOT YOU PERSONALY BUT,ive seen et cars go the whole way down spewing **** allover the grovve....
this is why times get screwed and records dont get broken so educate your fellow racers to pull to the side and shut it off......ruins the whole program buddy
is that what it was? Damm morons. I hated being stuck in there. I got eliminated first round today so I got to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing day watching the bikini contest

the reason why you guys didnt race is because more then half the ET guys were oiling down the track, you shoulda known what the delay was when you were sitting in the staging lane.. they break on the starting line and leak oil and decide to go all the way down the track and oil the dam return road too...
Yeah you got yeelled at because all motor cars are way louder then a turbo car doing clean ups on the dyno. Kenny was not on the 2 step, he was cleaning up his maps at lower rpms.
granted my car is all motor and running through a muffler. Still i feel a fair warning should have been isssued instead of "what the hell are you doing the neighbors are going to call the cops"

I wonder why there is a curfew at pomona for the "neighbors when all there is next to the track is a small airport, an industrial area and a golf course. There are some homes near buy but thats the peoples fault for buying a home buy a damm race track.... oh well nothing we could do.
Just to clear up the curfew issue...
The local authorities are VERY strict on the noise we can make at the track. Thus the reason the times when cars could be started (with out mufflers was put on almost every schedule).
Trooper,
The track staff did not say they would call the police, the people that live "on-top" of the track call the police all the time. The dyno was told the same thing. I'm not sure what you mean when you say "we cater to the spectators and not the racers"?
We have NO say when it comes to this. The local want this track shut down in the worst way - Etown knows our pain.
It sucks because 50 yrs ago when the track was built--no one was around for miles. So the question of the century is "Why build a house next to a drag strip and then complain about the noise?". When anyone has an answer please let me know. When the normal people buy a house they tend to look for these things--airports, railroads, etc.
By no means, do we try and "screw any racers, especially the sportsman and ET racers. You are what keeps this series running. We cannot run a Series without these racers.
All of you are right, if we can stop the oil downs we would have plenty of time to finish the races - like we did on Sunday.
It would be great for the racers to help police the problem of oil downs.
By the way, A big thanks to all the ET racers that sold out the entries by 230pm on Saturday. It was a great weekend of racing -- thanks to all of you.
I look forward to your feedback.
Thanks,

a couple of et racer oil downs and a couple of fast guy crashes screwed saturday up. I was stuck in that lane also. they let half of the et guys go but then cut us short . What the hell.. thats racing. I just got out of my car after an hour and watched the races. I got 3 runs the first day...only because I went twice the first time.
I eliminated myself in the second round on sunday...damn red light
good times

Big Man,
I apologise for the sharp words, just trying to vent my frustration. I do appreciate that we do have somewhere to race legally. I would like to make the suggestion to fine racers in the et classes that oil down the track. I am not saying that ill never do it, but if it makes things better i am all for it. Also i think every racer should have to sign a waver or be verbally warned what to do if they blow up. Alot of the new racers don't have any idea what to do or dont care.
Maybe we should make a pamphlet with lots of pictures. (Trying to put a bit of humor in the situation) I understand about the neighbors, my friends house over looks the track. But hey the track was here first so deal with it is my attitude, to me Pomona is part of Drag racing history. Now that the Hot Rod generation is geting older we need a newer generation with the same passion and drive. Personaly i wish i was born in that era.
I am just tired of hearing how un profesional we are (You know the whole one bad apple deal) by the other car crowds out there. I have a friend who knows some of the track workers; and a few of the track workers stated that no matter what they would never work another import event again. I go out of my way to thank the track workers, i know its a thankless job but i dont want to be the person that leaves a bad taste in their mouth. Once again im sorry for the rant just, it was just to dam early in the morning to get yelled at.

first of all i dont know why anybody is complaining. did we all forget that this is a NHRA event. NHRA doesnt care about the urban racer but cares more or less about the sponsored cars. there attendance records are dropping with a dramastic pace. they tried to imply a swapmeet to bring attendance but in my eyes it didnt work.
as far as curfew i live about 2 to 3 miles form the track, when the NHRA is there i can hear those big f-in drag cars racing until almost 9 at night depending on which way the wind is blowing. so basically it comes down to all things holy in life POLITICS, im sorry but the NHRA import division will never get respect.
If you want to race your car more than once or twice please go to a different event out there.

how about running the import finals at fontana? they have lights if im not mistaken and you car race there way past 6pm. i mean i know pomona is a historic track and all but look at all the hoops you gotta jump through too race there. 6pm cutt off, certain cars cant run and certain times and oh yeah only 200 bracket racers allowed!
