Federal 959RS tires: any info on these?
i know these tires are pretty new...but im needing some info on them
i was able to take a look at one
first thing i checked was treadwear rating...its 180
are they comparable to the RT615s?
stiff sidewalls?
tire sizes suck....195/50/15 are the only thing available in 15s

its prolly not the best tire in the world
but if theyre comparable to the new azenis then ill be all up for it
it also gives me an opportunity to try the Nitto NT101's and Avon tires...and even Federal's slick
so these federals are just the beginning stage
this is all for AutoX btw

had the tires mounted last week
drove it for a day for minor break-in and to get a feel
took it to an autox even today....the tires have grip...but right now it lacks the responsiveness
i raced on it with full thread and after about 15 laps on the course...i shaved off about .5mm....enough to get the "595RS" indentation on the threads out
im wanting to get at least half of the thread gone to see if it will feel any different...tis gona take a while tho

Why not have a set (or this set) shaved down. That won't take long
Keep us updated on the progress of these tires, it's always good to have alternatives.

We are still developing other sizes now. The sizes that I can provide now are 195/50ZR15, 205/45ZR16, 215/45ZR17, 235/45ZR17, 255/40ZR17.
Or do you guys want to consider another tire? Please check the fryers.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I didn't know that tires were made in fryers.
Sorry, couldn't help it.

update:
took em out to another autox test and tune event
pumped the tires up to 48psi cold this time
result: muuuuucch better in terms of response...but still not enough
i think im comparing them too much to the kumho v700s thats why
tire grip is pretty good also
i was .15 secs behind a guy who had on v700s
he prolly woulda done better if he had more laps around the course
