Hankook Z211 experience, fitment?
I'm thinking of buying some used Ventus Z211s from someone on this board, but I'm concerned about rim fitment. The specs on hankooktireusa.com say the 205/50/15 can only fit on 7-8.5" rims, and I'm running a 6.5" rim. It seems ridiculous that a 205 tire wouldn't fit on a 6.5" rim, so I want to know how it works when people do it anyway.
Anybody got pics?
Also, these UTQG-50 tires would mean carrying them to each autox and changing them right there, instead of driving them to the race - an inconvenience in my Prelude, but it can be done. Will it make me loads faster than Falken Azenis? I could drive them an hour each way to the races, but they wouldn't last long.
Thanks,
-Dan

They'll fit fine on a 6.5" rim. I'm assuming you mean you have a spare set of wheels that you'd swap on at the autox course. If so, LOTS of people do that, especially those with R-comp tires. It might be slightly more annoying than never ever removing your wheels, but your tires will thank you for the effort. If, on the otherhand, you mean you'd mount the tires on the rim at the course, that's an awful idea. In that situation just buy an extra set of wheels.
I haven't personally driven on the Z211s, so I can't speak for their improvement over the Azenis.

Oh don't worry, I've got a spare set of stock wheels. The issue is, either pack the wheels into my Prelude and change them on site or drive an hour each way on R tires, which will wear them out quickly. I'd like to get used to them for at least a few minutes before I go race on them.
The other option is to stick with Azenis.

Well, maybe take them out for a brief spin on a non-autox day, but you're right, driving an hour there and back will not be good for them, more for heat-cycling them than actually wearing them down.

You think heat-cycled-out R tires are going to be less sticky than worn Azenis? I doubt it. They'll still be an advantage even after they're cooked.

Well, I don't know, actually. But whether or not they'll be faster than Azenis, they won't be as fast as other non-heat cycled out R-comps, which I thought was the more important issue.
Not really, because I wasn't in the market for R compounds before Jason Saini posted sets for sale for $200 in the tire FS thread. Otherwise I'd just get Falkens. So the important issues are, whether they will be more competitive than Azenis and whether they'll last me a year of autox.
