So I'm kind of distraught over all this Omni bashing that has been going on since the advent of the CMC failure, that since then, has been corrected. But we'll get to that later...

I've been a big supporter of Omnipower since day 1. I've ran their full coilovers, and I still run Omni front and rear camber kits. Everything I've ever bought from this company has held up to all the abuse I give it on a daily basis. Bottom line, their products are quality, based on my experience.

So when their CMC's started failing a day after installation something was clearly wrong. Here is what Steve (Omniman) said after the correction was made:

So after I knew the problem was fixed, and me understanding how reputation is everything for venders in this business, I ordered an Omni CMC. I did this for 2 reasons:

1) I wasn't happy with the pedal feel after the installation of my Competition Stage 3 clutch.

2) After installation of my CMC I was hoping to give a positive review of this product since they've given me nothing but the best in customer service and quality parts.

So I ordered it last Sunday and it got to me on Friday. Not bad. CA to VA.

Here is the box it came in:

So today I got to the installation. It didn't take that long. Here is my old CMC coming out:



After you use a flared wrench to get the hardline off, put it in a ziplock bag to prevent spillage:



Don't forget to spill brake fluid all over your driveway like a champ



Here's a little comparison between the two CMC's. You can see how much bigger the Omni one is over stock. At that sight, I start to get excited

REVIEW:

Note: When I say 'stock clutch setup' I mean a stock or aftermarket clutch with a stock clutch master cylinder.

Ok, so after I borrowed my dad for the bleeding process I took the car out for a drive. Backing out of the driveway I stalled the car. It's a COMPLETELY different feel. I was in shock. The clutch pedal is totally different.

With a stock clutch setup you need to push the clutch pedal between 4-6 inches to get it to engage right? With the omni CMC, you need to push it about 1-1.5 inches to get it to engage. The clutch pedal permanently stays close to the firewall and is very stiff.

This is hard to describe so a pic will help. Sorry for the shitty pic but it's tough to get down in this position by the pedals, let alone take a pic. Ok, what you're looking at is the bolt that you can adjust the pedal height with. In this pic, the bolt is adjusted all the way in. So if this was a stock clutch setup, the pedal would be as low as possible. You see how far away from the bolt the pedal is? IT STAYS THAT FAR!!



So now you can imagine how low the pedal is to begin with. When you're shifting gears you just press it slightly and it engages the clutch. This really is a short shifter for your pedal.

Amazingly enough, you can actually make smoothe transitions from a stop to a slight roll in first gear. You can modulate the pedal like normal, but everything is just quicker. WAY QUICKER. It's a great feeling and I'm never ever going back to a stock clutch master cylinder.

I'd recommend this to anyone. Anyone who wants a better clutch feel or more accurate shifts. This will help roadraces or drag racers as well. I can now make lightening fast shifts where my foot and hand act simultaneously.

Hmm. I guess omni DID fix the design flaws that the other one had. good to see you are happy with it.

 

Eh im still happy with my stock cylinder. ill wait another couple months to be sure all the bugs are worked out. cant afford to get stranded with my car being my DD

 

Not bad not bad. I was still debating getting it even when they were having all there problems. But money is tight so i cant. But as long as i dont see a "aww expletive i was wrong, omni CMC sucks" thread by you then ill probably get it when i get the cash.

Yea we never had any problems with some of there stuff. Like camber kits and such. ::shrugs::

 

good review litterbox.

i was really exited when i saw that omnipower was offering a quick cmc so i preorderd one before they even came out. i bought omnipower's original cmc with the bad seal. when it did work it felt exactly the way litterbox described it. when it went bad i called omni and spoke to bob. he said he'd gladly refund my money or if i was willing to wait, i could get a new one when the problem was fixed. i liked the way it worked so much that i told him i would wait. it has been about two months now and i am still waiting for my cmc. i don't think this is entirely omnipower's fault because i have moved. although i did include a note telling them to send the cmc to my new address in the box when i shipped them the defective cmc.

all and all their customer service was really good. bob was willing to answer all my question. i guess i'll have to call omni on monday.

Can you use this with an OEM/stock clutch?

i've driven a similar setup before, i'd say its like driving a truck..........but comfortably, you WILL stall on your first try, its just so different but its a nice feel to it and fast reactions

 

Thats some damn good customer service, it must suck having to replace all those failed units. Thats a big loss, I might have to get one of these, my pedal travel is pretty far too.

 

Yeah, their CS is truly a pleasure, I just got off the phone with Steve (omniman) and he's a real nice guy.
