Default New England SCCA questions

I'm looking to get involved in some road-racing and auto-x events, first as a spectator but eventually as a participant. Is anyone on here involved in the New England SCCA or any other clubs in the NE region? I noticed the meetings are in Auburn, MA for the NER of SCCA (ner.org) which is like right down the street from me. I also noticed there is an event tommorrow (oct 23th) at devens which I may go check out. Basically I'm looking to get involved in some club/event in the area but I'm not quite sure what to look for or who to talk to. I appricate any info.

Hi....
Forget a meeting...Just boring admin stuff.
Go to a Devins autocross and have fun!
Try to get there early (7:30) Hook up with
the novice cheif and they will walk you thru
the day.
Just tell them Jinx sent you!!!

seriously, don't worry about the weather forecast. get to the event early, register, walk the courses and have a blast. look for me driving the silver formula ford, 46 CM.

If you get hooked and want more seat time, check out http://www.cartct.com... on any given Sunday there is an autocross event going on somewhere in NH. CART holds autocross events in Bristol, CT at the Firestone parking lot and the people are really nice there. My bf and I are in Boston and we drive down to their events all of the time. They hold track events at Lime Rock and the Poconos.

great fun. the rain mostly held off with only one heat being completely wet. i did fairly well in the CM car for my first time in it at Devens, loosing to the car owner by a cone and her husband by a cone and a little bit more. driving it on wet, cold pavement on slicks in the afternoon was interesting. first time ever that i've spun on 4 out of 4 runs in anything.

I was there as well, it was a little wet and pretty damn cold. My stock civic with all-seasons is a lot different than my crx with azenis/victoracers.

You can also try autoxs in Bristol, CT but there are no more events this year. If you really want to take a drive, there are 2 events in Waterbury, CT.

I haven't been to Waterbury at all this year. I took their rookie school last spring which I found to be helpful. The Waterbury lot is small, but the pavement is nice. The courses tend to be more technical and without long fast straightaways.

I too took the rookie school last year. It gives a nice, basic introduction to what is autocross. I would definitely recommend it as it provided a easy way to start.

And the lot is small but its still fun.

Check out http://www.fcscc.com It really is a great bunch of people. The event this Sunday is also the Runoff event, so you probably will not get as many runs in as you normally would.

If you decide to go I will be there in a green CRX.

Yeah, New England pretty much shuts down for the winter. Next auto-x event is 6 months from now.

But there's always
1) Indoor Karting at Race America in Foxboro
2) Ice Racing at Newfound Lake in NH
3) Winter Rally-X up Maine/NH/VT and sometimes in CT

What group runs the ice races at Newfound Lake? Is it the BMWCCA? I couldn't find any information on their website, but that sounds like a lot of fun.

Yep.. BMW.. Don't need to be a member either.

Look for info from last year and you'll be able to read all about it.
