Default rear strut bolts

i can't get the 2 rear lower bolts off that hold the stut to the control arm? i've hit it with a 5 gallon compressor with impact gun, still won't budge i tried a breaker bar also but its messing up the bolt a little bit, about to strip any ideas? i sprayed it and let it soak in with wd-40 also..

It's common for the bolts to rust solid to the control arm. Use a slightly better lubricating agent (perhaps PB Blaster) and use a stronger impact wrench with a larger compressor. Most impact wrenches are recommended for at least 20 gallon compressors.

The bolt is probably frozen in the bushing, at least that is what happend to me. My advice, take the control arm off of the car (the other two bolts were much easier to remove) and then cut the nut that is welded to the shock off.

If you are lucky the bolt won't have totally seized in the bushing and you can beat it out with a 3 lb sledge. If you are unlucky like me and the bolt is completely seized in the bushing then you buy new control arms and bolts and install them. This route is much easier as you don't even need to worry about the old control arm and shock but it will cost you around $100 or so for a new set of control arms (check ebay).

You can PB blaster the ish out of it and it will not budge if you are in the same boat as me, I PB blastered mine for a week before I finally gave up and purchased new control arms.

I had to cut mine but that's before I got PB Blaster and a propane torch. If they were stuck again, I'd probably take em out without cutting.

Summar: Forget WD-40 and get PB Blaster as well as a propane torch to heat it up... that along with a strong impact wrench should take it off

it's ok guys thanks, i dropped almos the whole arm, i just compressed the spring while it was on the car, then disconnected the lower control arm bolt toward the center of the car and the 1 on the top with the little arm, and pulled the spring off the shock while it was still on there, and slid the coilover down it.. worked perfect.. although those bolts never came off.. but i guess whatever works..
