actually, i think youre confusing 5th gear as the "final drive". 5th gear is NOT considered final drive, which is the final gear reduction which is on the differential.
anyway, if you put the Si/DX 5th gear on the ZC tranny 1-4 with the ZC 3.88 FD, ive heard very satisfied results. youll actually be at a lower RPM a Si tranny, actually itll be the same as the DX, since the DX shares the same final drive.
some ppl have actually put the HF 5th gear, which is even taller (lower rpm) with the ZC 1-4. they say its quite a big drop in RPM between 4-5, takes special attention to like double clutching. ill be putting this tranny in my car soon actually, but i dont have any first hand input yet.

YEa i think your right i am confused. Im gonna have a guy thats rebuilt trannys b4 show me how to do it, so what am i actually replacing, the whole 5th or the final drive.. im kinda noob at trannies
you want to change just the 5th gear. its easy for someone who knows what theyre doing. especially because you dont have to touch anything else because 5th gear is at the top of the assembly.
