Tune-Up for a D16A6
I've tried looking under "tune-up" and other variations of that and couldn't find anything. I just got off the phone w/ San Leandro Honda and the guy was less than helpful. I'm definitely a better carpenter than a mechanic...ugh. Basically I want to use OEM parts for a tune-up on my 91' CRX Si. Distributor cap, wires, plugs, etc. I'm just not sure what I was looking at here:

I'm also going to get a new oil pan/gasket, but that is pretty straightforward. I just need help getting the correct part #'s for the other stuff. When I was looking at the list of plugs (a couple of different part #'s the guy on the phone said they were the same thing...
) I just don't know why they would have different part #'s on the same item.

if youre doing a tune up, buy these things
distributor cap
distributor rotor
4 spark plugs (ngk BCPR6E-11 or BCPR6EY-N11
i dont think new plug wires are necessary unless you know its cracked somewhere.
check your alternator (and AC if you have it) belt. replace if you see any cracks.
open up your air filter, see if that needs changing as well.
then buy some valve adjustment gauge feelers. you should do that to complete the full tune up.
buy some dielectric grease and antisieze. use the grease on the sparkplug connection and a bit of antisieze on the sparkplug threads.

Thanks for the replies everyone

o.k. I figured instead of making another thread about this I'd just continue here just in case of problems that can arise. Me and my neighbor just got done installing a new dist. cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and pcv valve. I took it on a test drive (about a 4 mile loop). From the time I started the car I was getting a charge warning light (batchery light) but everything else was fine. It did turn off (the light) whenever I was giving it gas and was reving at about 3-4k rpm. The cluster lights seemed dimmer than normal too. About a mile or so from my house the tach dropped to 0 and then started going crazy
Any ideas?

Some other little easy things you can do are TB gasket and Distributor o-ring.
IF you do order a new oil-pan gasket, be sure to order at least 4 oil pan studs so its no big deal if one breaks.

...going out to reset the ecu. I just replaced the o2 sensor about 2 months ago so that should be fine. btw, why would I need to reset the ecu after doing those things (replacing the parts listed above). I don't understand.

I reset the ecu and the tach seems to be working alright now, but I still have the charge warning light. I guess the thing I don't understand here is that I didn't have that before and it just pops up after I replace those parts
I checked the alternator belt and it has about a 1/4" or so of slack in it...

for things like new o2 sensor that adjusts for emissions, it can confuse the computer, thus the reset. Meaning, it could be fouled, then all of a sudden its throwing off readings, which could possibly throw the computer into safe mode, i forgot what the actual term was. Anyways, check for codes on the ecu.
