Default S1 tranny slips in 5th gear

I just finished putting in a b16a (obd0) with an S1 tranny in my 88 CRX DX. The car runs great engine wise and the tranny engages gears 1-4 easily, but the problem is that in fifth gear, the tranny releases the gear and it pops into neutral, plus there is alot of play in all the gears even after I have shifted into positions. Does anyone think I need to rebuild the tranny? or could it be a bad clutch? Im clueless....thanks for any help
