Default ECU PROBLEM! BURNT SMELL!!! PLEASE HELP!

yea so i pulled out my ecu tonight kus i alwasy take it in wit me but um i smelled this smell so i took it apart and look at it and this black square resistor thingy is all cracked and burnt and the ecu cover is black right above that part of the ecu the number next to the resistor thin is q31... its really close to where the ecu plugs go. its in line wit hte middle plus its not hard to miss

PLEASE LEMME KNO WHY THIS MAY HAVE HAPPENED>!

just curious bro but why do u take the ecu inside with u every night? and yeah ur ecu is fked.. it might have happened from all the times unplugging it and putting back in.. u may have caused debris to enter inside the prongs and short it out.. could be a number of things.. it is electronic and electronics arent guaranteed for life.. buy another one.. put it in and see what it does.. if it fries again then **** u have a wiring problem if not then leave it alone!

Same thing just happened to me 3 weeks ago. Chipped p28 is now garbage

The only way I would unplug a sensitive ECU is by first taking off the negative battery cable. When you unplug/plug it in, there could be a momentary voltage spike which can damage sensitive electronics. Its a pretty rare occurance, but it does happen.

yesi take it out since a p28 has been stolen from me already.. dont wanna lose anotherone but yea now i remember wat happened a friend mines had the same problem and yesturday one of my boys brother went to go turn the car on and used my ecu and i guess on his bubble the plugs are messed up kus he had a jdm b16 put in by a shop and the ecu from his car was already burnt like mines is.. we sold that ecu to sumone it works fine... but now i kno how mines got messed i was jus worried about my wiring or anythin... ill jus have to get a new ecu...
