Default B18C Rebuild

Okay last month i Blew my Jdm B18c..
i figure it was from over reving and the piston hit some valves.. bent 3 of them and broke one. The one that broke was baning around in the cylinder until it got wedged in the valve guide. and it kept hitting the piston until it blew a nice little hole in the piston head. thats the bad news

the good news is that the block and head are okay..
so i ordered .020 oversized p73 pistons, full gasket kit and Omni high compression valves\dual springs\titanium retainers (no money for cams yet

okay so the motor was bored .020 and the valve guide was fixed and my new little goodies were installed... plus timing belt and water pump...
now here is where i need help.. the motor was running fine.. i baby'd it for the longest got my valves adjusted
but i was using reg. oil at 1st and it was burning a quart every 3 days
and now im running synthetic...
its still burning... the motor runs strong but when i punch it you see a blue smoke cloud. and when i pass 5k you see a little constant smoke come out.. any ideas?

Sounds like you have some problems. A leakdown and compression test are in your future, and you still may want to take the head off to check out the cylinder bores, sounds like maybe rings aren't sealing.

Welcome to Honda-Tech, good luck with this.

ok i'll check that too... one more question
say if it is the piston rings that aren't sealing correctly..
wouldn't i notice that the motor is running weak?
because when i do push the motor hard it feels real strong.. no power loss at all

what kind of rings are you using, did you install new valve guide seals, and did you replace you pcv valve with a new oem one?

there are compression rings and oil control rings, so you can have strong motor that burns oil by gallons... (good compression, bad oil control)

okay my mechanic is gonna buy new rings and bearings, but "someone" had told me that i could be burning oil because im running very rich? does this make anysense to anyone?
im running on a chipped p28.. all the smoke that comes out of my exhaust is blue, the car is black but you can see that the whole bumper from one side to the other is black and its a very thick dried up sludge..i thought that was the oil residue.. but this "someone" told me that it was fuel? but i never see any black smoke, just blue... any advice?

blue is most likely oil, but if you are burning a ton of it, check your PCV system as well, do not disassemble the engine before confirming that your PCV system is fine, check your PCV valve as well, if it is stuck it can actually attribute for most of your oil loss.
If PCV is ok, at least you know what is going on instead replacing rings and discovering that the issue is 5$ PCV valve...
