What to look when buying an ITR with Turbo?

I was really looking for a stock ITR but found one with turbo instead. I've talked to the dealer and they've put a hold on it for me. The price is great, title clean and everything stock other then a turbo. The model is 2000 with 71K miles.
So for all the experience turbo itr people, anything to look for when checking this out? I might consider buying it and turning it back to stock.
Oh and the guy told me it's around 400 horse.

Get a dyno print out with A/F to see how it's running and what #s it puts out. If it's above 300whp on the stock block, you might want to see how long it's been putting out that power. Who tuned it? with what? who did all the work?
71k miles on a stockish ITR does not warrant much concern, but with boost... You must go over everything twice. items like compression, leak-down and any other diagnostic tools you can use.
Better be safe now then be paying for a new motor later.
Good luck.

i stopped right there, unless they're giving it away, i'd pass.. you can resell turbo parts, just make sure if you have to repair the motor because its ready to go at some point, that was covered by selling turbo parts or cut on the price

Seriously dude, I shake my head at turbo Rs. Keep your eyes out for another N/A ITR, because from what you're saying you dont want to get into that mess.
And honestly I wouldnt touch a turbo R.

Unless you put the turbo on yourself.
You really have no way of knowing how that caR was treated.

Basically ask yourself this:
Can you afford to get the car properly tuned and gone FULLY over by a fully qualified mechanic once purchased?
Also, it sounds like you don't know much about turbo parts so you are at the mercy of whoever you pay to do your car.
Save money by spending MORE money by getting a low mileage stock (or nearly stock) ITR.

Surprised nobody has mentioned this. I would take it to a mechanic that you know and have them look over it. I also assume there is no warranty, but ask the dealer if buying a warranty is possible.
.... you are obviously new to the idea of Turbo Rs. As previously stated by Koala, i wouldn't want anything to do with one. Should you have bought this car stock and did alll the work yourself thats a completely different story!
Bottom Line.... this isn't the car for you In My Opinion.

then it sounds too good to be true. Probably needs a rebuild and they're trying to get rid of it quick. People working at the dealership probably take it out and romp on it during their lunch break too.

I dont think you quite understand what were telling you here. Even if they were to sell you the car for $9K, you could blow that damn motor up 5 days later and be looking at putting thousands into the car just to get it back up and running.
find a stock R! I understand you want the car, but i have been in your shoes and had a very similiar experience. I learned the hard way....id hate for you to do the same! There are way too many variables you are unaware of.

Im really not trying to scare you, but rather make you aware of the things i wasn't when i bought my first honda. There are many questions you need answered about this car before you would even want to consider purchasing it.

like everyone has said, it seems you dont know much about turbo R's. if you want stock get a stock one. and there is no way in hell id buy a turbo R off of a lot! only way id buy it is if it was a private seller, they have reciepts, you have your mechanic check everything out including compression.
im selling my fully built turbo type r, but id expect the person buying it to be asking these types of questions, thats why i have all the info for the mods done. also they can talk in person to my mechanics who are well known in this area. and if they had any question or concern id tell them to look it over think about and get back to me.
ive had 3 people back out of buying it and thats because not one of them new anything about turbo setups at all and they were concerned. thats fine with me find another R for the same price and same amount of mods.
