Hi, New to Hondas, Autocrossing with a '91 Si this year
I've been viewing this forum for sometime and just wanted to introduce myself.
The wife and I have been into autocrossing for some time now. Generally, we've
been racing Mustangs. This year we're looking to pick up the pace a bit and
become more competitive within the guidelines of the SCCA.
Without buying a Miata
The 89-91 Si is a nice little daily driver that can be competitive in HS, STS, SM.
So after doing some looking around, I found a completely stock Si for a
whopping $1300.
Now add some Koni yellows, brake upgrades, light 14x5 wheels, V710s, OEM
bushings and we'll be ready for the new season in HS. Maybe by the 07 season
we'll be ready for STS, but one step at a time
I'm in the market for the lightest 14x5" wheels that won't break the bank.
I'd like to replace all bushings. Anyone have a complete list of the bushings?
How difficult is this job?
Anyway, looking forward to sharing ideas with you all in the future. Here's a
couple pics. The Stang and the new Si.
Vic

energy suspension makes good bushings...but youre going to want to get oem trailing arm bushings though..the poly TA bushings bind or something....
I made a list of bushings and other suspension parts for the 91 CRX Si the other day, I'll send you a copy since I believe they're the same.
Nick, he wants to run in stock so he's got to use OEM rubber.

welcome to the dark side.
i myself have 3 88-91 civics. 2 si, 1 std. new bushings are always needed on these old models. i'd double check the rule book because i *thought* you could ude aftermarket bushings in cars past a certin age. also allowed to upgrase brake ines due to teh age of the vehicle. if i can find my rulebook i will post definate answers to this.

You can use an aftermarket steering wheel within 1" in diameter compared to stock if the car didn't come with an airbag, and upgrade the brake lines to stainless on cars with model year earlier than 1992.
The bushing stuff is covered in rule 13.8:
"Suspension bushings, including but not limited to those which carry the weight of the vehicle and determine ride height, may not be replaced with bushings of a different material or dimension."

welcome! I have an 89, basically due to the lo-buck mobile (the guy who posted above me has a standard that has a special place in my heart). Made me give up my 300 whp subaru for a fiery 90hp red beasty. The hatches are a ton of fun, just make sure all those 15 year old suspension bits are in good shape before you throw on 710's.
