Default Help me Put a Aftermarket Cd player in my dash, please.

K so here is where I stand as of now, im going to get a 100 watt 4 channel cd player that plays all burned cds and cdrw. thats why im changing from my factory honda cd player with cassette player.

I have the honda factory cassette and cd player so i have alot of room to make up for. The cd player i have is about half of the space that will be left from uninstalling my factory cd/cassette stuff.

So this is my first time ever doing this. I was wondering if you guys can help me. I have a very good online guide here it is.http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs...PDF/466037.pdf

it explains everything well. I was wondering if you guys that have installed aftermarket cd indash players can help me. It looks easy to take out the factory cd player and the plugs, i was wondering about how the installing the new cd player going to be. after i store the old cd player and put in my new cd player I know i need the install kit, i bought it its on its way, what does it have? like that extra storage space? after i install the kit, how do i attach the new wires? I have 6 speakers which rock btw from the factory, how will i get sound from all 6 speakers like i do with my factory cd player? If i stand correct usually aftermarket cd players only allow you to have 4 speakers the fronts and backs. how are the wires going to attach? I hurd about the wire harness. Is it easy to attach it? Cuz the new cd player im getting comes with the wire harness. so all i would have to do is attach the wire harness with the cars wire harness and thats it i have power and music from speakers?

WHat im really am lost in is how the wiring will work? I dont know **** about wire harnesses? Soldering and all that ****, but i hurd that wire harnesses just snap on to the cars harness or something. all i would have to do is connect the correct pins with color pins or something. then after that i screw all the things back i turn on the the power and i can hear cds from my new cd player?? If anyone can help me with info it will be great. like i said im a noob at this, but i do understand how unintalling my factory cd player and cassette player will be. thanks. Oh and if you want me to sell the cassette player and the cd player just post here ill sell it for 60 bucks its worth like 200 bucks from honda i hear. holla!

It's not very hard to install a CD player...all you do is take out the facotry one...take the back plugs out...then go on installDr.com...search for your car's wiring...then put the colors together use electric tape to wrapp them...im not very fond of using the Soldering gun...

If you need more step by step details while your doing your project PM me ill help you more...

Wiring harness 101: When you remove the factory radio, the wires that had gone into the back of the factory radio will be in a plug.

The new radio will have wires attached to a plug which fit into the back of the radio, but the end of the wires will be bare. How do you connect those bare wires to the plug that the wires from the factory radio came out of? Well, you can’t, at least not directly. You either need to use a harness which will be a “go-between”, or snip off the plug and hook up the wires directly. Use a harness, it’ll make life much, much easier if (when) you put in another radio, or put the factory radio back in (like when you eventually want to sell the car). A harness from Wal-Mart or so will only cost ~ $7 or so, well worth it.

When I say that the harness is a “go-between”, I mean that one end will plug into the plug on the car, the other end will be bare. Connect those bare wires to the bare wires coming out of your replacement radio. The package for the wiring harness will have a wiring decoder to tell you which wires do what. The new radio will have the same thing. The colors should match up, but just in case read as you go along.

As for how to connect the wires, go to a hardware store with an electrical section (like Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc). Buy red butt plugs, maybe $2 for a box of 15. And buy a decent set of crimpers (will be in the same section), will cost maybe $8. Use crimpers when using the butt plugs, if you try to use pliers you won’t get a good crimp. And the crimpers will also come with a wire stripper which you may need.

Since you don't know how to solder I would go to Circuit City and get a "smart harness" there is no soldering involved and is much easier.

Just let them know what brand your radio is and the year make model of the car and they can help you out.

Do not go ghetto connecting the wires....If you do you could possibly cause a short and make your car catch on fire.
