I had a Automatic in my 99 base model prelude and now i finally swaped it to a standard.. i blow 2 automatics before i did. sounds like your tranny is ready to go.. both of my trannies lagged and jerked right before they started to slip are not go in gear at all. The automatic prelude tranny sucks ***... if you drive it hard are just use the sport shifter sometimes just to have alittle fun your tranny is gonna start acting up before you know it... and i yea. My D light never blinked at all.

i just did penz oil to do automatic tranmission flush it did help alot it doesnt jerk no more but i still feel little lagging shift. wen it go "R" i feel the grind
i havent seen the code but the mechanic erase the engine check light. and it havent been on ever since. he said something on the first valve. he told me go for a tune up.
First of all.. Standard is a Manual Transmission.
Second of all.. Changing the tranny oil does help alittle. But does not fix the problem.
Third of all.. Believe me. Start saving money for a transmission. you can still drive your car and can still get a few more thousand miles on it before it blows. I know.. i messed up alot of them.

The automatic transmission in the 97-01 preludes was for from being a good and relieable transmission. almost everybody i know has had a automatic has had problems with it before and have changed the transmission.
First mistake you made was buying an Automatic....All Prelude automatics suck, and will have problems down the line.....The best thing you can do now is to sell that Prelude and find a 5spd.
Lemme guess, I bet they put in regular DEX III fluid. Pull out the dipstick and sniff it...see if it smells like DEX ATF, should also be very red in color.
Honda automatics require the use of HONDA ATF, has no smell whatsoever! It's more of synthetic blend and a lighter shade of red in color.
The dealer is the only place that has it, unless you live in MN.
I think they're like $5.00/qt. You'll need 3 of them to fill it up.
If you have simple hand tools, it is very easy to do. Drain the trans, clean the magnetic drain plug, put it back in. Then look at the top of the trans, you should see what also looks like a drain plug, remove that and fill from that hole. (If you can't find that plug, you can fill it from the dipstick hole.) Check the trans fluid level with the car car warmed up and turned off. Park the car on a level surface and check the dipstick.
Hope this helps...good luck.

If there is any import shop that works on honda's as for as performance and turbo chargers. i would check there. They usually have some used ones in pretty good shape are can get one for you. A new are rebuild one usually is pretty expensive for the prelude.
