Looking at the possibility of upgrading/replacing our stock lsd. How superior would a ATS unit be (either metal or carbon) be to the stock honda lsd, or even the quaife unit?
I understand the benefits of the lsd but what im asking is it really worth it interms of added performance?
can anyone shed some light on this subject, maby with some of their own experiences with them and upgrading and differences bewteen them?

LSD advice? Don't eat the brown acid. I repeat, do not eat the brown acid.
I use the KAAZ LSD. It's a similiar design to the ATS (clutch type) and it can be built to different levels of slip. Mine is set pretty agressive, enough so that I don't even drive the car on the street anymore except to get to and from events. The factory LSDs in my Civic and my wife's SE-R go completely unnoticed until you jump on it and it hooks up. The Integra with the KAAZ sounds like it's breaking axles when you go around corners with small throttle openings. At full throttle or close to it it locks up and you don't hear it. You also don't hear it from about 40 MPH up. Good luck.

are you looking for a time difference between the different types? if so, give up now. the LSD is only a small part of the whole package. different LSD types require different chassis setups and driving styles. first step is to identify if you really have a problem that could be solved with a different lsd. this problem might be wear and maintenance intervals, it may be wheelspin, or it may be something else completely. once you've decided you need a different lsd i'd suggest doing two things. first, know how the various types of lsd's you're interested in work. second, if at all possible, drive a few good examples of cars with the different types of lsd's you're interested in. look at the pro's and con's of each type, compare that to cost (both purchase and maintenance) and personal preference, then make a decision.
CN: there is no "clutch type is .2 quicker then torsen which is .2 quicker then OPM" easy answer

I think Rodney is using an ATS in his SM Civic. He used to have a Kaaz and switched. It would be worth it to get his reasoning. I don't know if he ever had either a factory lsd or Quaife in his car.

well i am looking for what is the difference in all the different types compared to stock.
The first question is is there really that significant of a gain bewtween the stock lsd unit to an aftermarket unit.
the unfortunate thing for me is everyone i know with a front wheel drive track car has all stock lsd's except for a mustang with a lsd ( which just eats up the track). There are 2 drives in my car with different driving styles. Im a late breaker and a little more aggressive on the car than the other driver who is very smoth and technical and early breaker.
