what is the widest tire i can mount on the 5 spoke split wheels without rubbing. car is stock ride height now, but will be dropping it in the very near future. the 195's just seem a little narrow to me. the way the back suspension is set up i fear 205's even with a lower aspect ratio would still cause rubbing problems. i'm thinking about 205/55/R15's. anyone with experience on this one?

will going to a 55 sidewall affect the tire and wheel height by much? just worried about throwing off the speedo...
As long as the static diameter of the 55's is within 1/4" of the stock tire size, it won't effect either the ECM calibration or the speedo accuracy (or lack there-of
). (Regardless of thread width or rim diameter.)
Most tire manufactures web sites list the tires specs: Diameter, Thread width etc.
You can compare the specs of what was on the car, with what you want to put on the car; and make your decision.
If you go to '55's while using a stock 15" rim, you will definitly throw off just about everything.
