I brought my car to the garage today and I was just wondering how long it should take them to install coilover sleeves onto my 88 civic?

 

a shop should take no more than 4 hours...1 hour each corner.

 

Are you serious.. 4 hours, I thought they could do it at least in 2 hours.

 

theyll probably charge you 4 hours labor and have it done in 2 to 2 1/2 hours...

its pretty easy to do.. should have done it yourself...

 

2 is pushing it. maybe 3.

 

It's a shop that I go to all the time and my brother works there so they wont charge us more labor then it takes, and the reason I did'nt do it myself was because I had gift certificates for the place.

 

It took 1 hour for a shop to do my springs. It should be about the same since coilovers are easier to install. But at max, 2 hours.

 

i replaced my shocks in about 3 hours by myself at my house. i stopped oftenly though to rest coz i'm so lazy....

 

it should not take them more than 1 hour at the max to do it, it is soo easy you should have done it yourself,

 

it to0k meeh 15 min each wheel to0 lower my car .....by myself....iono whussup with all the shops yall go to0..haha

15 FUKIN MINUTES ....ITS ONLY 4 BOLTS ON THE REAR 6 ON THE FRONT...U HAVE TO0 BE RETARDED TO0 FINISH IN ANYTHING OVER 2 HOURS

 

from start to finish, i *very highly* doubt it took 15 mins. per corner. especially if you go from stock to aftermarket. compressing the stock springs is a beotch.

 

I did mine by myself, no previous experiance, no shop manual, and no spring compressor, in 2 hours with a floor jack and an air ratchet.

 

i dont use a spring compressor jus aim it against the wall and put a spare tire behind it its simple i do it in 15 minutes a side that is no joke!!

 

Let me guess, you are also a kid who bought the 1000 quality sticket pack from summitt?

It should take you about 2.5 hrs if you havent done it before. Once you have done them alot, you can start breaking them off in about 1.5 hrs.

it takes me about one and a half hours to do all four. It not hard to do it. U should try doing it yourself save money and better job cuz it's your own car.

 

he said he doesnt want to do it so let him waste him money. and 15 minutes per wheel is a good exstimet. with air tools it took me about an hour and a half first time. and second time on a ek it took an hour with full coilovers

 

4 HOURS? Maybe if bolts break/seize. I can (have) done mine in an hour. Newbies can do them in anywhere from 1-5 hours, depending on tools, mechanical knowledge, and how many beer/coffee breaks you take. HTH, Kerry

 

i said 4 hours from the time you first place the jack under the car to the time you let the car off the jack.

plus up here in new englad, bolts always seize on a 3+ year old car...

and i am taking about changing from stock to coilovers. stock springs are a beeotch to compress (if you compress them with the valuing your life mindset).

but whatever, i'm done trying to justify my time. i have done it many times and i think any time estimate under 2 hours is BS.
