white dots on cf hood
hey guys, i just got my cf hood a few weeks back and haven't really paid attention to it but i've just noticed a good amount of noticeable white dots on it. i tried washing it, wax it with clear coat safe wax but it wont come off...anyone had this problem or know what i can do?
Are you certain the "dots" are on the surface? My Fiber Images hood had tiny bubbles visible in the resin itself, but they were imbedded into the hood rather than on the surface. If they aren't on the surface, there really isn't much you can do about it.
well vis said to wait it out cause it's somethign they put on their hood? i guess i'll just wait it out but i told the shop i brought it from

ViS is full of crap. Waiting it out will do nothing. I make carbon stuff for a living and white dots could be several things. Crap could have gotten in the gel coat before they put the carbon on it, or it could be thousands of little air bubbles in the resin. post a pic and I can tell you what to do if you can do anything. Also you said you used a clear coat safe wax but ViS hoods use a gel coat not a clear coat

HELLO PEOPLE...
**if the white dots are deep inside the paint... usually that is the carbonfiber materials itself.
the fibers have pulled apart(bad thing). it's called stress cracks. if you ordered the hood brand new and it already has those stress cracks on it... return the sucker. if you wait any longer, your warranty might run out(hint hint... they told you to wait).
it's just like fiberglass... when you bend it or break it. you can see white dots.
