99 prelude timing marks
ok i have a 99 H22 in a 94 prelude. trying to set timing but cant find marks. only mark on flywheel is a white mark, m guessing for tdc. is there no red timing marks because it is obd2 and distr. controls it or are they just gone? right now the white plus sign is lined up but its jumping around and the distr. is completely retarded which i know cant be right cuz it doesnt even accelerate like that. its a 94 H23 distributor if that matters. thanks
If you set your camgear marks straight up along with your crankshaft gear straight up, your timming should be set. You will notice after you align those up that the flywheel mark lines up with the marker. Also make sure you have your balancer gears the way they should. Its not hard at all, you just have to align everything the way it goes.
I dont think that distributor is gonna work on a 99 H22 because the ignition is controlled by the computer in 5gs. In 4gs you could move the distributor to advance or retard timming. That doesnt work on 5gs OBD2.

The computer still controls the timming in the 4th gens. Both the 5th and 4th gen you need to set the timing for. Im not sure why you wouldnt have another mark on the flywheel. but use a timing light that has an advancing/retarding feature.
you have to jump your service connector when you go to set your timing. and make sure the car is warmed up.
