I bought an ITR motor B18C out of a wrecked DC2 What else is there to know? Just wanting to know what year it is, must you constantly quote yourself? Just answer my question please. Your wasting both of our time by being an ***.

You could have asked your seller what year the car was before you bought it.
Check the stamp on the head. Right above the headers, a bunch of circles and see what year the head is.
There's no guarantee since heads could have been swapped.
Generally, if you got a header like that, it would be something found normally on a 96spec motor....

By asking a question you already know the answer to. Further elaborate on what "EMO" is and how ive expressed the aspects of it? You can ask away as long as it's helpful.

well now...it doesn't take a genious to tell that you bought a motor
my question is: when you handed the money over, what did you think you were paying for? a 96 spec or a 98 spec?

with an oem 4-2-1 header, it's a 96-97 and the way you put it, you have a 4-2-1 header. i don't think you've found a conclusion because the receipt cannot be trusted if it's inconsistent with what you are seeing.

Hmm good point. I will also be checking the head as soon as I get home today.

The one on there looks like this exactly

4-2-1 should be a 2 piece....well most that I've seen. Though I did see a kid that had his 2 pieces welded ( I don't know why so dont asl ) to make it look like one

It is possible you have an aftermarket header if it looks IDENTICAL to the one you posted.
With the heat shield off and JDM 4-2-1 should look like this

(Yours wouldn't be black though, probably rust)
The stamp on the head is a good indicator for the year.

why would an ITR motor come with CTR cams?</TD></TR></TABLE>
It comes with a CTR intake cam. They have "carbon" plug covers too, but of course that could easily have been put on.

you are telling me an ITR motor comes with a CTR cam?
an itr motor comes with itr cams, a ctr motor comes with ctr cams
how hard a concept is that?
what has a carbon plug cover? the thread starter hasn't even told us if its USDM or JDM

96 Spec JDM ITR B18C = ITR cams
97-98 USDM ITR B18C5 = ITR cams
98 Spec JDM ITR B18C = CTR cams
00-01 USDM ITR B18C5 = "CTR" cams (very similar profile)
ITR and CTR exhaust cams are the same. As was already stated the 98 Spec B18C's have CTR intake cams, giving them "CTR cams".
98 Spec B18C's have a fake carbon plug cover. The pattern on the "carbon" plug cover, matches the "carbon" interior trim.
Also if you have a two piece header, you probably have a 96 Spec engine.

i know the 98 spec JDM motor has the fake carbon fiber cover...
nevermind...something was lost in translation
