Default 4th-GEN. MPG (sorry ahead of time)

i know theres a million threads here probably,but i searched and they speak about 5th gens. so i wanted to make sure theres no differences for a 4th. what i'd like to know is how much should my 90-91 get per gallon? shes all stock

and what are certain things to look/check for when maintaining good MPG?


-oil change
-tire pressure/rims

^thats all i know so please fill me in

in the thread abotu the accord getting 36.6.. a guy in there w/a 4th gen said he gets 33.5 out of his 4th gen.

good cindtion ignition system: plugs, wires, cap and rotor.

Proper timing

light use of throttle

less weight in the car, dont carry a months worth of garbage with you


and acceptable milage is gonna be 22mpg and up depending on your driving conditions.

I would say that if most of the time you shift by 3500 RPM you should average around 28. If your getting 22, you got problems, unless your foots to the floor all the time. I've been driving in stop and stop Memphis traffic with a 92 EX for 5 years.

oops forgot to mention its an auto.

so.............things to look for are:


-oil changes/filter
-tire pressure/rims
-sparkplugs/wires/dizzy/rotor
-proper timing (how do i check this one)
-fuel injection cleaner or seafoam (every when?)
-EGR ports (?)
-02 sensor (?)
-replace air filter


anything else? those with question marks are where i need more details on,thanks again for the time
