I was thinking about buying the tein basic damper kit, but ive been reading around this forum and people were saying they suck? I'm probably going to buy off of sportcompactonly.com because of their easy payment plan thing, but what would be a better option to get for my 98 integra gsr. I'm also on a pretty tight budget so any suggestions on quality with a reasonable price.
i've heard good stuff about the basics....but have read bad stuff about them so its your decision....but if i were you get some skunk2 pro series coils...they come with shocks and springs...quality is great and the price is only $600...you can find for that price only at Robearracing.com
I'd go with Ksports if I were you. IMO the Tein Basics are not worth the money at all, and I wouldn't go with omni either.
Contact the vendor/site sponsor in my sig. Big dealer for Ksport

best bang for you buck is the koni/gc deal with top hats.
You will have to spend much more money to get some thing that is even comparible to it.

Best bang for your buck can come in two ways as I see it. Real coilovers will cost more than what you can get for putting together your own coilover-sleeve/damper(shocks) combination. You'll find that here on H-T, Koni Yellow dampers and Ground Control sleeves seem to be the favorite when it comes to coilover sleeve/damper setup.
Real Coilovers will cost more money all together, especially if you want adjustable dampers. I suppose there are benefits to it since it costs so much, I'm not sure exactly what those benefits are.
I couldn't afford a real coilover set or even the GC/Yellows setup so I went with GC/KYB AGX, which are still adjustable dampers.

a coilover is any damper with a coil spring mounted over it (hence the term 'coilover').
implying that a shock that uses a sleeve to achieve height adjustment instead of having a threaded body is somehow a fake (the opposite of a 'real' or 'true' coilover) is bullshit that so many people on this forum spread. a lot of the 'real' coilovers (by your definition) on the market are actually cheaper than the koni/GC combo you speak of, and perform accordingly.

:sigh:..............I get so tired reading all the nonsense that occurs on these forums.
P.S. I just got my GC coils for my konis monday and if everything goes right, they might be on the whip this weekend
. That or I finally fess up and buy those sexy *** top hats for the fronts and mount it all up whenever that gets here. Its comes with bushings, bumpstops and all the replacement stock stuff. I will post pics and driving impressions after install and setup.
