I am not sure if this question belongs here or not, but if the front sub frame is removed, does everything including the engine in front of the firewall also come off? If so, is it boltable or are these parts welded in place? I am just wondering what actually comes off if I wanted to strip the car down to bare bones for a snadblasting and repaint.

ALso, has anyone stripped their car to the bone for this type of paint treatment and put it back together? Let me kbnow what advice you have, besides do not do it.

 

well the firewall does not come off the car. there isnt really a font sub frame per se. It has a front cross member and a rear front cross member.



also the suspension is connected to these crossmebers so when you remove them the car is going to roll any more. or stand for that matter.

the inner fender wells, the radiator support, are all weld together and to the firewall so those are not coming off.

if you unbolted the subframe the ingine will still hang by the two side engine mounts

the suspension is tied into the front 2 cross members and all that has to be un done before takin them down

they are definatly not welded in place.

 

you can get all the subframe and the bumpers and fenders out....the rest, aka the rad support, inner fender metal, and the firewall are all welded...like kulrevon said...

if youre going for the full repaint you might as well drop the motor and everything else in there as well....

Ok, that is what I was asking. if everythign is stripped out, I would have the rad support and the fender hangers and plys everything behind the firewall.
