RSX Type-S AUTO?
Because that would be a base auto with leather seats with a Type-S badge
If you really wanted the automatic Type-S, you can always do the engine swap for it. It'd be a pretty simple swap, really.

true, the auto tranny draws power from the engine, thus resulting in less hp when compared to a manual car, making the manual faster assuming tha the driver is decent
i dunno, auto has its place, and manual has it.
but some drag cars use auto tranny's so yeah

Well, the RSX has the tiptronic... but that doesn't really count as a true sequential transmission, I don't think.
Anyway, it's much more fun driving a manual. And that's what sports cars are about, no? The base auto makes a great daily driver though.

Any tranny consumes powa from an engine due to friction loses, I.e. torque converter and clutch. Torque converter usually eats about 22% of the power and a clutch would be around 10-15% or less depending on setup.
Only fall back for auto trannies are the torque converters and gearing... With Honda releasing a 6 speed auto CIVIC in the UK it should be interesting to see what happens in the US. After that, the only thing holding you back is the torque converter. But there are companies like TCI that produce aftermarket torque converters.
I've also wondered how a A2 longblock would operate in my base RSX Auto. I love Autos in DD cars.

if so, why did they make the vette in auto as well?
rsx-s is aimed more towards the younger groups.. people who love ripping through the gears of a 6spd transmission. everything is revolved around the engine.. thats what makes the type s, a type s.
i think with the vettes... they made autos because they know its aimed towards the older muscle car guys who dont want to slip a disc or crack a hip, trying to rip through the gears.. lazy old *******...

THAT is the whole idea of modifying cars. You modify to what you want it to be. You know you've got the best car when you've got a Honda, its your personal taste (modification) that you add to it. If you want to go driving around in a type-s auto, more power to you. The American Honda big wigs think that like people have mentioned above, that the young (or young at heart) generation will want a stick shift in their performance car, because that's what they believe the majority of the young generation will want. Another point of interest is that I believe some of Honda's core values are efficiency and safety, which they've shown to be true in the new Civic as in all their cars. I brought this point up because efficiency favors manual transmission cars more so than automatic tran. cars in terms of performance and gas mileage vs. convenience. Let me know what you think.
