Default Hardwire PS2 in car?

could i directly connect the PS2 to the cig lighter by cutting the wires (of the ps2 power wire and the pos and neg of car) and connecting them behind the console to the cig lighter's possitve and negative. Maybe using a fuse if necessary??
Whats the best way to do this. is there a way to avoid using a power inverter?
If not whats the best way to hardwire it. i searched but it was kinda confusing.

You need to use the inverter. You can use a small inverter, and stuff that behind the dash somewhere, and plug it in.

Ok. what wattage does it need to be. What is the minimum wattage that the inverter needs to be to correctly power the PS2?

this seems to solve the problem, but i have the original ps2. and this seems to be just for the slim.(if theres a difference in the power cord)
