So is anyone going to this? It'll be October 29,30 on the Shenandoah circuit of Summit Point, run by PCA. Membership to PCA is not required (and not allowed, for that matter, if you don't own a Porsche...), and the entry price is pretty cheap ($275 w/instructor, $225 without). You'll most likely need to email Arlene Novack at nnjrtrackchair@optonline.net for "permission", though she said there were plenty of spots still open.

Alright everyone, they're asking us to spread the word. Lots of spaces open, $275 entrance fee, and 5 sessions per day!

Will do, as long as they let me out of the track. One of the rules is "You must be present at the track from 7am-5pm. Food will not be available at the track"

RECAP:
Shenandoah is a very interesting, very technical track. Lots of combinations of corners make getting the line down right very important. Lots of off-camber corners make things interesting too, and the ginormous number of concrete barriers, as well as their close placement to the track make things a little...intimidating. With somewhere around 16-17 turns, and a 2.x mile length, the track is the length of Summit Main, with about the number of corners as VIR, all crammed into a spot the size of the Jefferson circuit. Busy doesn't begin to describe it.
PCA runs a great event too, at least the NNJR region. I did not meet a single arrogant ***** the whole time I was there, and everyone was very cool and very fun. Yeah, there was a light of high dollar machinery, but they're pretty much the same types of guys as us (car and track nuts), just with more disposable income. Safety in the groups was their priority, which they handled very well. A few people had to deal with the rule "2 spins, then you're in" where if you spin/have an off twice, you're done for the day, no argument.
There was only one major off I'm aware of, involving an Evo locking it up on cold tires coming into the Corkscrew and sliding sideways into the wall. He did drive off track and then home though, so it wasn't too bad (though he was done for the weekend). Also, LOTS of track time. I think I got a total of 7 1/2 to 8 hours on track. On the second day, I did have to take it a little easier, as the car was getting pretty hot, and then I started to run out of gas and get a nasty fuel cut. Also, the event was relatively small (70-80 drivers total), so it was a bit more relaxed than say, a NASA event with 300 drivers.
As for my performance, I laid down Honda law appropriately, and rolled almost everyone in my group
The exception was a 996 TT, and I kept up alright with him, though he pulled me hard on the straights.
Cliffnotes: Great people, great event, lots of track time, do a PCA event if you can.
Edit: And Brian, sorry I never made it over there, I was either napping or on track the whole time. Next time I'll be sure to zip over

I have nightmares about the Shenandoah barriers. And in my nightmares they have big red dollar signs painted on them. Fun track though...

Jason LeBrake also pointed me to the Reisentoter PCA region, which I'll hopefully be able to join next Monday at Summit. Anyone know if he's on here? He said he was a Honda guy.

hey!
i'll be with RTR PCA instructing on sun and mon......
they are a great PCA group; very very very fast in the black and red groups (if the track is good, there will probably be some guys running sub 1:20s).
really nice guys to hang out with, too. i'll look forward to seeing you there!

Well, unfortunately, I found out they only have instructor spots open, so I won't be going
But I'll definitely be keeping an eye on their events page for future events
And sub-1:20s,
