98 running very rich, slow and burning oil
I have a 1998 prelude with a greddy sp and a iceman intake .. my motor has been fully rebuilt to oem specs. The car is extremly slow i loose to cars i definetly should not and am trapping at 87 in the 1/4 mile.. car burns a quart of oil every 1500 miles and i throw black smoke like a dully. my entire bumper gets covered in black.. i know they run rich from the factory but i dont think honda would make it so rich either, and it running so slow make me beleive that something is definetly wrong. .. Does anyone know what it can be liek some sensor or something that maybe is bad or didnt get plugged in after rebuild.. let me know please.. thanks
who rebuilt it because it definatly doesnt sound like its factory specs? burnign a qt every 1500 is pready made I think. do you have any check engine lights?
A vacuum gauge is your best friend in this situation.
Check your manifold pressure.
It should be around 18-22 in. Hg at idle........
maybe 1-2 more around 2500
Try to check your intake air temperature also.

Hg at idle would indicate a leak. It should idle around 22. Rev it up to 3000 and wait for the vacuum to catch back up and then release the throttle. It shouldn't jump up more than 3 or 4 in. above normal idle upon release and should then drop back to normal quickly. If not, you could have an exhaust restriction. Check timing and valve clearance.

yea i tihnk it has everything to do with the rebuild and hopefulyl ill be getting anothe one soon.. they used some generic brand for everything seals, gaskets, rings when they charged me for honda oem and said they would be using honda oem. anyway about the vac gauge a simple boost gauge with vac reading should work right? Is there a specific vacuum line i should connect it to>? .. thanks alot for the help
