Default Warranty Issues with AEM CAI...

Shold it void my warranty? Of course If I were to hydrolock (knock on wood) it wouldn't be covered. But this mod doesn't cause any other damage, does it? Would they have any basis for refusing warranty service?

The only basis they would have to void your warranty is if they can trace a problem back to the aftermarket part. This is pretty much a wild card for the dealership. If you go in for something wrong just take it off and put the stock one on.

dealers like to blame anything on aftermarket parts.. the only part of the warranty an intake would void is for the intake.. they didnt make the part.. u cant expect them to void it.. its actually illegal for them to say ur warranty is void unless they can prove that part voided your warranty..

but w/ that said. i've heard some pretty rediculous things from dealers.. in an attempt to refuse service/warranty work.. best thing i can tell u is.. b4 u take your car in for warranty service.. put it back to stock.. that way they wont have much to say..

Like what the guy said, take it off if you ever need warranty work. It will make your life much easier.

A dealer once refused warranty work on my power door locks because of an aftermarket alarm.
I went to another dealer and they replaced the actuator and didn't blame the alarm.

man dealers make up ANYTHING to get outta warranty work..

my window got stuck (fell off its track/guide).. dealer was all "your lowering springs and shocks are too firm.. it made it slip off the track" wtf?

another friends tranny was going bad.. he had shift ****, shoft shifter, car is lowered. they were all "drive angles to the tranny/axles are diff cuz of lowering... and the short shifter... wtf?

dealers will make up anything to try and blame ur mods.. if u need warranty work.. put it back to stock..

Just throw the stock intake back on....take it to another dealer. Then see what they say.

that might work, it might not.. sometimes if the service manager is a *****.. they will enter into the computer "car has modifications.. and list what it has" my friend tried taking his prelude to a 2nd dealer after his auto/sport shift was starting to go south... he went to a 2nd dealer after the first dealer gave him some BS about the car having intake, exhaust, and being lowered .. saying it "altered the drive angles the transmission was designed to operate at, and also the added power (wtf? he just had intake and ehaust) put excessive wear on the tranny...

he's talking w/ HondaCare and the district office manager currently and trying to get this resolved so he doesnt have to take the 2K+ hit to rebuilt his tranny..
