Anyone speak German? I'd love to know what they're saying.

Video and photos of Nurburgring always remind me of racing's infancy. To think in the early (and not so early) years of motor racing, drivers had little to protect them from such offs. Truly a different breed.

You can say that twice. W0W!
Not sure I would classify that as how not to drive The Ring as that thing was moving until "it" happened.

Shitty translation, roomate speaks german.
"I'm ok I'm ok. Crashed left on the side, lost a wheel. expletive me. ::A bunch of technical stuff::, I'm getting out" and over the radio "ok we're coming to you".

Most definitely made out the word "fvck". Seemed quite appropriot under the circumstances.
Sounded like a tire blew. Or fell off. Perhaps it was a Goodyear.....

Definitely something happened that made the left rear wheel fail. Imo he was quite lucky, too. There are places around the Ring where this failure could have ended up a whole lot worse.

same vid was posted in thecarlounge, and someone found a description of the wreck and this is his translation:
"The driveshaft pin, to which the tierod is connected, broke, the lugnut with the tierod flew off, and the wheel wrapped itself under the car. And then Marc [driver] was only a bystander, "I went off like a rocket. The speed wasn't that high, it started around 140 [km/h]. When I took off I was probably still doing a good 100. The Porsche rose up backwards, went sideways over the track on the door, and when it hit the guardrail, the car started doing cartwheels."
(I know the description of the failure doesn't quite make sense. The lugnut flew off with the tierod? But "Radmutter" means lugnut, or wheel nut. Anyway, a connection between the suspension and driveshaft broke, and then things went thoroughly pear-shaped)
This was a race. Last year's German Endurance championships of something or other. So this wasn't a "civilian" doing laps for a handful of Euros a pop."
