question about "JDM DOHC ZC" transmission
i'm considering purchasing one, and i want the one with the really short gears that you can interchange with other D series transmissions. However the description for the one i am looking at says "This transmission has longer gears for better torque usage and with the equal length axles will lower torque steer problems."
I thought that there was only one JDM ZC DOHC tranny that used an intermediate shaft, are there any others?

there is only one for the OBD0 DOHC ZC - the reason they say longer gears is that the ZC has a 3.88 final drive which is longer than the Si with 4.25 final - actually the ZC 4th and 5th are shorter than the Si when you factor in the final drive
when i did my dohc zc swap into my car i was planning on using the si trans but complications led me to a zc trans..as of now i love it..handels the torque great and i even got lucky enough to have one with a limited slip..some people say all the jdm zc trans had it but not sure how true it is..

Plain and simple...it rocks.

I went to a B16 swap before I got around to trying that one...still have the Si Box parts for the swap.....need to eBay those... my old ZC engine and tranny are residing in a fellow board members car since last year.

For an intermediate shaft that will work, your best bet is to call an importer. They usually sell for around $75-100 plus shipping (and be prepared to get raped on shipping charges). There's some talk of using the '88-'91 Civic AWD Wagon intermediate shaft and a first-gen Integra's intermediate shaft to build a "hybrid" shaft that will work. Neither of those shafts will work on their own; apparently you have to use the shaft and mount bracket from one, and the seals and dust shields from the other in order to get it to fit perfectly. There's more in-depth info on this over at the ZCResource.com.
As for the limited-slip differential in the ZC transmission: They do exist, and they were available from Honda (the LSD was a factory part, in other words), but they're certainly not common, and definitely not on all ZC transmissions. Most importers will quote you $300 extra for an LSD-equipped ZC tranny, IF they have any in stock. I order in bulk (6-12 ZC transmissions at a time), and the last shipment I got had one of the LSD-equipped transmissions in it. They didn't even upcharge me for it - because they didn't notice it!
