96-98 JDMSh*t CTR style headlight review - 5/04 - 10/05
I bought the fake CTR headlights for my 96 civic ex 15 months ago and thought I would give a little update on them.
These are good headlights, but there is definitely a difference from OEM. I paid 165 shipped I think. I think for 165 the headlights are definitely a good buy.
When I first bought them the fitment was good (not excellent like OEM) I was saitisfied with fitment, which says alot.
I didn't like adjusting the headlights. The little levels inside were not acurate, and I had to use a wall to adjust them. With my OEM ones I could just use the internal levels to adjust the beams. Also, they would not adjust side to side. I turned the adjuster wheel with a screwdriver but the beam would not actually move.
The pattern of the light is OK. I don't how to explain it but the light on the wall wasn't perfectly horizontal (each light was shifted a little counter clockwise) and the beam wasn't as "sharp" or "defined" as OEM.
My last rant on the headlight is that the clear coat started peeling a few months back on one headlight, and now on both. The lights still look good, but if you get close you can see some peeling. The clearcoat on the one that started peeling first is now peeling severely, but it still doesn't look that bad. (This might be because my car's paint isn't that great. On a brand new paint job, the peeling may stand out more)
On the positive side there has been absolutely no leaking, though I did seal with some silicone, but I don't think I did that great of a job.
Sorry no pics, I'm lazy.
