Painting black border on glass windshield
Installing the windshield (glass, not Lexan) in the Mini. Because of mounting difficulties, it's likely the stick-on gasket will appear through the glass as somewhat unattractive.
I'd like to mask and paint a black border on the inside surface, around the outer edge to cover the gasket area. How should the glass be preped and what type of paint is best? Something in a spray can would be easiest, though I'm a bit concerned no matter what I use it may look crappy... Has anyone else done this?
Thanks

If you want something that will actually stick to the glass and make a good surface to adhere to, use urethane primer. You can probably get some from a local windshield installer. If you bring the glass, they may just let you "borrow" what you need instead of buying a can that you will use 2% of. Normal paint will come off easily, urethane primer is nearly indestructable so don't make a mess since you can't clean it up after it dries.
Normally I'd agree, using vinyl, except in this case whatever I use will be what the gasket is adhering to, so it needs to be on there pretty strong.

put the vinyl on the outside?

On second thought putting the vinyl on the outside may not be too good for longevity. Rocks, rain, sand, all conspiring to make it a mess in short order.
I agree, but you can replace it anytime you want if its vinyl.
I would go with painting the inside, like you said earlier. it will only get scratched when you replace the windshield, which wont be very often.
