The Best Alarm
I was curious to see if anyone had a preference for alarms. I had my car broken into and I think it's time for an alarm that is better then the stock one which sucks...Any insight or suggestions would be great..Thanks
There are lots of good alarms out there. Stick with a brand name, one of the DEI alarms, http://www.dei.com or a Compustar if you want a 2way with a lot of range, http://www.compustar.com.
It has more to do with the install and layering, then what kind of alarm, although sticking with a brand name is in your best interest, for warranty and reliability.

All alarms are not the same, one of the problems with the stock Honda/Acura alarms and almost all OEM alarms is you can bust the window and not trigger the alarm get inside, unplug the alarm, then open a door, or hot-wire the car.

Compustar is good but probably at the bottom of my list of recommendations (of the five I recommend at all). It's mostly from an installer's point of view so if you are paying someone else, it doesn't matter. Autopage RS855 is a very similar/better alarm for much cheaper.
Viper 5000 has a built in shock sensor with two extra sensor ports so you can simply plug in your own additional sensors instead of paying someone else to splice them in. Then you can adjust the shock sensor by remote. It's very flexible in terms of installation and customizing the settings. Clifford, Viper, and Python are all the same alarms with different colored remotes. These alarms are very explicit about their code hopping while other alarms I'm not so sure what protection then have against someone from programming a remote to your system.
The Omega 745i aka Crime Guard from Crutchfield is still my all time favorite. I wish it was two way paging. But it has the most sensors, it's fairly cheap, very DIY friendly, has a great proximity sensor much better than DEI's. Overall probably the most secure alarm because it comes with built in battery backup, a motion sensor, a glass breakage sensor, and a shock sensor. Motion and shock are dual stage. The LED blinks to tell you how many remotes are programmed to the alarm, but I'm not sure what prevention this system provides. Crutchfield's customer support is worthy of a nobel peace prize.

These all sound really good. I just want the alarm to work if somebody is messing with my car. I dont want it to go off if somebody walks by. Thanks again to everyone for all your help. I have some things to think about...There are alot of alarms out there.
