97 EX keyless entry (searched) easy/dumb question

ok, 97 civic ex coupe... i have keyless entry, can it be programmed or setup to honk/ flash lights when i lock/ unlock?

yes the factory honda does that (at least my friends does)

i know 99-00 civics do, i dont know why mine wouldnt (96-98).... can anyone verify this? or tell me how to set mine up to honk/ flash?

just honk
I tried lots of different ways to get the lights to flash instead, but only got it to work with an aftermarket alarm

My 96 only can honk... no flashing lights

99-00 civics flash lights.

96-98 can only honk. hold down the option and unlock key at the same time. or something like that.

yeah i know it has something to do with the option key, anyone know for sure and does it have to be in the ignition too....
