Help with my old alarm... add locks, siren
The alarm i have came with my civic dx and its a pretty cheesy prestige. I would like to remove it and put a better one but i am going to stay with it until next year.
I would like to:
1) Add power locks - I bought those 25 dollar acuators from ebay
2) Add a louder siren thats stays on longer
3) Get another remote - only have one and its old and dirty
If any has any wiring diagrams so i can see where to hook up the door lock wires or knows what color the wires are i would appreciate it.
----I am not sure what the model is but I saw the audivox aps785 on ebay and it looked just like it.
The remote says prestige and FCCID ELVATOH APC2k4ms
Its a pretty played alarm alot of people have it
4) Also there is a switch and a button under my dash by the pedals. What do you think they are for? I pressed it but don't know if it did anything and did the same thing with the switch in.
thanks that all the questions i have for now
if you need pictures let me know

The siren length is determined by the alarm brain not the siren, usually you can adjust the length in your programing options, The switch and button under your dash are for programing. Im not to familiar with Prestige so i will let someone els answer the rest.

there should be a connector coming off of your brain of the alarm underneath the dash with either two or 3 wires, normally they are blue/ red / green none the less there should be at most 3 wires, if not then just two not connected to anything. when you hit unlock and lock on your remote have a tester hooked up to a 12v source so it will light up because the output signal will be (-) form the unlock and lock wires. to program your remote your gonna need to hold the button with the key in the ignition in the on position, hold it until you see the light come on an dpossibly chirp, then with the new remote, hit the arm button and see if it picks it up. ill see if i can find any writings on it..

You can find your remote here http://www.audiovox.com/webapp...brand=
Audiovox does not show a Prestige APS785 http://www.audiovox.com/webapp...=null
You need to look on the alarm brain for the model number.
You can add a louder siren, but "alarming duration is controlled by the alarm.
You may also need a pr of SPDT relays for the door locks as I don't know if they are built in the the alarm you have, they wiuld be wired this way http://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp#arp

you can program the length of time that the siren is on? How do you do that? is there an adjustment screw?
Also should i measure how much power is going through the siren wire in order to determine the Db of the siren?
