Default throttle body or intake manny?

Okay this is just bugging the hell outta me...the throttle body sits on top of the intake manifold, correct? Why am I hearing people refer to intake manifold part A and part B? Is the throttle body just the little part that houses the butterfly valve or is it the that whole thing that sits on the manifold (says PGI on my Accord i believe)?

heres a picture of my throttle body. the intake manifold is the big ****** cast thing that has 4 runners on it. then you have the throttle body, then the air intake arm. i hope nobody quotes you in their profile lol

so starting from the intake...

intake connects to...
throttle body connects to...
air intake arm connects to...
intake manifold?

I've just heard people refer to the fact that the intake manifold has two pieces. A and B. It sounded wierd when someone was asking if "the upper intake manifold will fit...". I didn't think there was an upper and a lower.

intake=intake arm, lol

in stock form::
airbox-->filter-->intake arm-->throttle body-->plenum-->runners-->intake ports, etc.

plenum is the large part of the manifold that says mpfi, and the runners are the 4...runners.

got it...plenum...sounds like a bone in your rib cage or something. No more consfusion, and many more catchy signature quotes to come, I'm sure. Thanks for the posts/pics!

Sometimes there's a chamber that doesn't connect to anything, either before or after the filter. That's a resonator.

Most times the plenum & runners are one-piece. That's the big intake manifold casting. Plenum is the big barrel part. The runners are the 4 smaller tubes running to each cylinder.

The intake ports are the openings cast into the head.

Sometimes the manifold is made up of 2 or 3 separate parts, bolted together. That's probably what the part A & part B is all about??
