Default Jim Russell Racing Schools Racing Scholarships

I just got this thingie in the mail. It sounds like a good way for them to make $2,000 off a bunch of poor saps like me who think they can drive. I'm sure they just pulled my name, address and the fact that I have a comp. license off of an SCCA site somewhere to sent it to me. Basically you go and compete in a two-day event to see how fast you are in a Formula Russell car, and they pick a few people to do a bunch of free race weekends in the Formula Russell championship series in '06.

Anybody heard anything about this? I'm betting it's just a racket, but I could be wrong.

EDIT: One more detail: It's only open to people with <1 year of auto racing experience, according to this pamphlet. Of course, anyone with 15 years of karting experience can probably do it, since that's not auto racing (it's harder).

I have thought about doing this as well. Lots of great racers came from the program. They have info on there website as well about it. And actually, I think it's more like 2300 bucks after the 995 manditory test day, and the 1295 scholarship day.
