ecu code P1259- VTEC system malfunction???

ecu code P1259- VTEC system malfunction???
I just hooked up the VAFC in my car yesterday, changed the oil, attempted to diagnose what had been wrong with my car since the CEL has been on for the past 2 months. Now before the VAFC was put in, my car never really hit VTEC very hard and was almost barley noticeable. Now that the controller is in, when my car is about to hit VTEC it just bounces off about 5300-5500 rpm like i have a rev limiter or something. I've searched a little bit and couldn't find too much. Any suggestions?
What are possible errors or malfunctions in the motor and ecu that would cause it to throw the p1259 code? anyone else ever have this problem?
