b18c1 block with 11:5:1 pistons
arp rod bolts
resurfaced head ( 10thousandths)
with full rev valvetrain and stock
We had just dropped this setup into an eg hatch, cx, and got everything running fine idles drives fine unitil vtec engagement. ON THE TACH it's says 4200 rpms but i think thats off, but it's a real fast sputter, car does not fall on it's face like it needs more fuel still gains then around 5 on the tach it takes off breaks wheels loose and all just can't figure out the xover point, my skunk 2s did that and i had to take the xover point higher but these are stock cams.
Also i pulled the plugs out and they are lean greyish white, and i have a walboro 255 with stock injectors at 60psi (roughly 70psi at WOT).
any suggestions with this would be appreciated and i already check oil vtec selonoid everything tried moving ignition timing also nothing helps???

i know as stupid as i sound my wide band is on the way thats why i am dumping the fpr to be on the safe side, so right now i don't have any afr readings at least not today, i also just found out that stock gsr maps are pretty lean and that the plugs ARE going to be greyish but as to why the car makes this sound at the xover point is driving me crazy, i have tried everything a tech would have thought of
wait till you get the wideband before you do any serious damage to the motor. Please list the entire motor setup. Are you using a pr3 or p72 head, what is your vtec xover set at? What do you have for oil pressure? there are so many variables

I completely understand about all the variables, and yes i am waiting for the wideband. The motor is as follows:
b18c1 block w/ 11:5:1 ross pistons
stock head gasket with gsr p72 head with 10 thousandths mill
full rev valvetrain w/ stock cams
using stock obd1 p72 ecu
plans are using chipped p73 type r ecu with msd digital 6 with vafc
ALSO i do have a direct port wet kit on the manifold w/everything ran, just no spray until i figure this thing out and get on dyno.
Also i figured out that it is not detonation, don't know what it is but it does clear out.
What happens is car drives, around 4500 (for whatever reason) vtec DOES kick on gets 13 volts at selonoid and sputters till bout 5 or 5200 rpms then clears out and revs out fine, it's like it's a lean spot but the car does not fall on it's face like my other gsr when i put cams in it fell on it's face with a similar sound and it need more fuel. The only thing i haven't tried is checking oil pressure, and i will do that hopefully today if i get fittings, other than that i have checked the selonoid wiring voltage and fuel and the car really moves just that one spot at vtec engagement. I thing i am going to put a vafc on it and raise the xover point!!
